CAR's MC² announces the approval of five new ProXX® motors and a Pro29® motor spacer - January 19, 2010
For Immediate Release - January 19, 2010 - Gormley, Ontario
Thomas Raithby, chair of the Canadian Rocketry Association's motor certification committee, CAR MC², announced today the approval of five new CTI motors tested at the Gormley facility on the 7th of January. Fourteen motors were tested ranging from 29mm through 75mm. CAR executive Angelo Castellano was on-hand to witness the outdoor test session.
Green³™ is heralded as being green through and through. Green³™, or "Green Cubed," is described as being "triple-green": it burns with a vivid green flame, the propellant itself is green in color, but most importantly, it is 'green' environmentally, completely barium nitrate-free. Green³™'s toxicity is no different than CTI's other ammonium perchlorate composite propellants. The 298-H159-GR-15A and 1990-K490-GR-16A are the first CTI Green³™ reloads, for the Pro29®-6G and Pro54®-5G cases respectively.
This test session saw the introduction of new "long burn" motors. The 159-G54-RL-12A is a Red Lightning™ Longburn reload kit for the Pro29®-3G case, a 99% G motor with a three second burn time. This is the first in a series of long burn motors CTI plans to release this year. The Pro75® line expanded again with the certification of two new reload kits, and includes a new 5.3G motor casing as well as a .7G motor spacer for use in the Pro75®-6G hardware. This was brought about by the introduction of the M3700 reload kit, a special order high-power version of the popular 2.75" Mighty Mouse Navy rocket motor, sharing similar thrust and total impulse specifications. "The 6800-M3700-WT-P White Thunder™ reload is actually a Pro75®-5.3G," Raithby said in his announcement. "The reload was tested and certified with a 0.7G spacer to fit the standard Pro75®-6G case, as well as in the Pro75®-5.3G hardware." The loaded and burnout weights in the CAR certification documents reflect the use of a Pro75®-6G motor casing along with the newly certified .7G spacer, a hardware combination that is more likely to be used in the field, and reflects a difference of 420 grams over using the newly certified Pro75®-5.3G hardware instead. The second Pro75® reload approved was a six-grain Smoky Sam™ sporting a burn time just over three seconds. Completing the test session was the approval of the Pro29®-1G spacer, now a certified component in the Pro29® motor system. With the addition of the Pro29® spacers, CTI now has case spacers for their entire Pro29®, Pro38®, Pro54®, Pro75® and Pro98® lines.

CAR's MC2 announces 11 new CTI motors, 3 new motor spacers - November 10, 2009
For Immediate Release - November 10, 2009 - Gormley, Ontario
A motor testing session was held at the Cesaroni Technology Incorporated facility in Gormley, Ontario on October 24th and 25th, 2009. The new additions include reloads for Pro29®, Pro54®, Pro75® and Pro98® from Cesaroni Technology Incorporated and one "Animal by Cesaroni" (ABC) reload. As a result of this testing, 38mm (P38-SPXL), 54mm (P54-SP and P54-SPXL) are now certified for use in the motor systems from CTI. While these motors were certified in Canada, a reciprocal agreement between the Canadian Association of Rocketry, the Tripoli Rocketry Association and the National Association of Rocketry means they may be flown in many jurisdictions.
Certified ProXX® Motors from this session:
Pro29-2G Skidmark G80-14A reload At the moment NFPA-1125 does not allow Skidmark (sparky) motors that fall in the model-rocket-motor (MRM) classification. The Pro29-2G Skidmark motor contains less than 62.5 grams of propellant and would therefore be classified as a MRM. However, by upping the average thrust to 80N, it is classified as a high-power-motor. The G80 Skidmark motor is the smallest Skidmark motor available from CTI at the moment and will allow flyers to enjoy Skidmark flights at small fields.
Pro54-1G Imax I120-15A reload The Pro54-1G Imax motor is the fourth reload available for the Pro54-1G hardware. It features a long burn time of 4.1s, with Imax characteristic flame, smoke and sound. We think that the availability of Pro54 case spacers will further popularize the Pro54-1G reloads, since flyers no longer have to purchase the Pro54-1G hardware, but can use 2G and 3G hardware with spacers as an alternative.
Pro75-5G White Thunder M3100 reload The M3100 reload is the big brother of the L2375 load. The M3100 load will lift the heaviest L3 rocket with ease, without exceeding the waiver in smaller fields. The M3100 reload is a spin-off of a commercial motor that CTI is currently developing. We were so impressed with the performance of this motor, we decided to certify it for HPR usage.
Pro75-5G M1675 Pink reload Certified at special request. A propellant blend that was originally proposed by AMW’s founder Paul Robinson.
Pro75-6G M1590 Classic reload The M1590 is the fourth reload for our recently introduced Pro75-6G hardware. A ‘classic’ load similar to the M1400 Pro75-5G, with added 6th grain. M1400 on steroids... This load delivers 7545 Ns with a 4.7 s burn time.
Pro75-4G M2250 C-Star reload Our newest ‘star’ performer C-Star propellant: high performance and bright flame. This propellant is identical to the propellant used in the Shuttle’s Solid Rocket Motors. Again a spin-off from commercial work. The M2250 motor uses a stepped core to maximize propellant loading. A ‘baby-M’ (7% M) with a punch!
Pro98-2G White Thunder M1560 and Pro98-4G White Thunder M3400 reloads These two new Pro98 reloads are related to the Pro98-3G M2505 WT reload. The M1560 is the 2G version. By means of a slightly smaller propellant core, the propellant amount per grain was increased to result in a ‘baby-M’ (4% M), perfect for 98mm L3 certifications or smaller fields. The 4G version, the M3400, is a very powerful motor, with total impulse close to a ‘full M’ (95% M). It uses four identical grains to the ones is in the M2505.
Pro98-6GXL N3800 Blue Streak reload A new reload for the Pro98-6GXL hardware.
Pro98-6GXL N5800 C-Star reload The second reload to feature the new C-Star propellant. An impressive 97% N motor with a 3.5 s burn time. This is the 5th reload for the recently introduced Pro98-6GXL hardware
ABC75-6000 L1290 Skidmark reload Finally CTI’s first reload for the AMW75/6000 hardware. This Animal-By-Cesaroni (ABC) reload features Skidmark propellant and uses a Pro75 liner and Pro75 single-use nozzle for easy assembly and clean-up.
We hope that you will enjoy these new reloads. Several of them have shipped to dealers already, and should be available this week. -
CAR's MC2 announces 14 new CTI motors, motor spacers - September 3, 2009
For Immediate Release - September 3, 2009 - Gormley, Ontario
A motor testing session was held at the Cesaroni Technology Incorporated facility in Gormley, Ontario on August 27 and 28th, 2009. A total of forty (40) motors were fired to certify fourteen (14) new reloads. The list includes one F, one I, one L, seven M and four N motors. The propellants included four Blue Streak™, two Classic™, three Imax™, one Red Lightning™ and four Skidmark™. The total fired impulse was 246,458.92 N-sec (50.4% R). The new additions include reloads for Pro29®, Pro54®, Pro75® and Pro98® from Cesaroni Technology Incorporated as well as one Pro98® reload cross-certified for use in Aerotech RMS™ hardware and one "Animal by Cesaroni" (ABC) reload. Earlier this year, a simple grain spacer was designed for use in CTI hardware. The spacers are the length of a single grain, and are loaded into the case forward of the reload. This means that all of the pressure remains within the reload, but the ejection charge (if present) can freely pass through. In the course of normal testing, 75mm and 98mm spacers were included without incident. Two stacked 1G spacers (38mm) were hydrostatically tested in a 3G case to failure, and the failure point was the nozzle (longitudinal failure mode) as described by NFPA 1125, section 7.4.4. After disassembling the destroyed 3G case, the spacers slid out undamaged, even after exposure to 2,380 PSI (over 3X the working pressure of the reload). The Pro29® tapered closures have been used in Pro29® testing and have performed normally. As a result of this testing, 38mm, 75mm and 98mm spacers (alone or stacked) and the Pro29® tapered closure are now certified for use in the motor systems from CTI. These spacers (38mm, 75mm and 98mm) and optional closures (29mm) will continue to be included in upcoming tests to observe the effect of "accelerated" usage. While these motors were certified in Canada, a reciprocal agreement between the Canadian Association of Rocketry, the Tripoli Rocketry Association and the National Association of Rocketry means they may be flown in many jurisdictions.

New Pro38®-6GXL Imax™ and Classic™ reloads certified! - May 15, 2009
For Immediate Release - May 15, 2009 - Gormley, Ontario
Last week we officially introduced the Pro38®-6GXL casing. CTI is now pleased to announce that the CAR Motor Certification Committee has tested and certified two more new Pro38®-6GXL reloads! A total of six reloads are now available for the 6GXL hardware. The first motor is a reload using our Classic™ propellant: 1008J420-15A. The second reload uses our new Imax™ propellant. Its designation is: 1115J530-15A.
The Imax™ propellant packs the maximum total impulse in a given motor envelope (hence the name). The total impulse of Imax™ reloads is about 10-15% higher than that of any other reload in the same motor hardware. Imax™ reloads feature a large flame – with a hint of green and lot’s of dense smoke. The performance of Imax™ is obvious from the large total impulse of our 6GXL reload: 1115 Ns! This is 44% more total impulse than the largest Pro38® reload available prior to the 6GXL case size release!

New Pro38®-6GXL hardware and reload kits! - May 9, 2009
For Immediate Release - May 9, 2009 - Gormley, Ontario
CTI is proud to announce that a new casing size has been added to the Pro38® range of motors, the Pro38®-6GXL. This is a longer casing with about 25% more total impulse than the Pro38®-6G. Like all existing Pro38® motors the new reloads for this casing will have CTI’s adjustable ejection delay, reliable ignition and very easy assembly and clean-up. Earlier this year TMT certified and announced the first reload for this casing: the 848J520-16A Skidmark™ motor. Now, three more exciting reloads are available:
Smoky Sam™: 896J580-17A
Red Lightning™: 999J600-16A
And a reload using our new Blue Streak™ propellant: 985J595-16A
CTI’s current largest Pro38® reload is the 774J410 6G Red Lightning™ motor. The 6GXL Red Lightning™ and Blue Streak™ motors deliver close to 1000 Ns in a 38 mm reload! A whopping 29% more total impulse! This makes the Pro38®-6GXL reloads a very economical choice for flyers looking for something larger than the Pro38®-6G. For 2009 the Pro38®-6GXL hardware will be competitively priced at $57.15 (MSRP) – identical to the current Pro38®-6G hardware. Also all 6GXL hardware will be MIL-spec'd Type III hard anodized for an even harder and durable finish.
Note: Last week, the CAR Motor Certification Committee tested two more Pro38®-6GXL reloads and we expect to introduce those soon. That will produce six new reloads for this new hardware. All available at the beginning of the 2009 flying season! -

New Pro54® Dual Thrust™ reload certified - August 22, 2008
For Immediate Release - August 22, 2008 - Gormley, Ontario
The CAR Motor Certification Committee has tested and certified a new Pro54® reload kit using our popular Classic™ propellant. The new K590 motor is a Dual Thrust™ motor providing a military style "boost-sustain" thrust profile with a thrust-ratio of about 3:1. This means very high "boost" acceleration for safe and perfect straight flights of the pad, followed by a long "sustain" phase for maximum altitude and minimum airframe loads. The Dual Thrust™ motors simulate the concept of a two-stage rocket, but without the complexity of separate stages, multiple airframe components and staging electronics. These new Dual Thrust™ motors are great for altitude attempts! More types of motors are in the works. Pro54® Motor Specification Page

Two New White Thunder™ Pro150® reloads certified - May 1, 2008
For Immediate Release - May 1, 2008 - Gormley, Ontario
The CAR Motor Certification Committee has tested and certified two new exciting Pro150® reloads using our popular White Thunder™ propellant. The O5800 and O8000 motors are based on hardware developed for a commercial customer to boost small cruise missiles. For HPR usage we added 45 seconds of tracking smoke. The O8000 is a full (100%) O design, the maximum allowed for HPR use. This is the largest motor ever certified for hobby use. Both motors are very high performance with a delivered Isp of around 224 seconds! These new motors use a single grain design. Because the motors are no longer segmented, the hardware nomenclature has been updated to reflect the new design. The previous 3G casing is now a 30k (30,000 Ns) casing. The 4G hardware is now a 40k (40,000 Ns) casing. The 40k casing is actually a 30k casing with a 10k extension. With the recently introduced Pro38® White Thunder™ motors, we now have a complete lineup of White Thunder™ propellant for each hardware diameter (Pro38®, Pro54®, Pro75®, Pro98® and Pro150®).
